Discover Offers

There are good things to be found here, but you have to be a bit careful when picking through them. I don't recommend doing anything that requires a phone number (especially if your phone plan requires you to pay for incoming calls), and especially not a credit card number* (unless the offer is for a company you'd like to buy from anyway). I don't do the ones that require downloading apps either, but I might if I had an old device lying around that I otherwise wasn't using at all.

Edit: I do have a good device for it now, and I can tell you that app games can be pretty lucrative! Make sure you know yourself and know your limits: I know that I'm the kind of person who would get sucked in by strategy and management games, so if you're like me don't do those (unless you want to get sucked in; maybe you're in the market for a new game!). But I don't enjoy gambling, so I downloaded one of the free-slots apps knowing I wouldn't be tempted by it. I joined a high-level team, left it running low-bet autospins overnight and when I'd finished with videos for the day, and hoarded tokens so I could use them during XP boosts: a week and a half of very little effort later, I got 610 SB!

To help get you started, here are some offers that I often do, or would do if my lifestyle were a bit different:

  • Hideout. Several “channels” of these are found under the AdscendMedia tab; pick whichever you like. They're videos, a lot like the Desktop Watch videos, but they're considered Discover offers because they're run by a non-Swagbucks company. That means you can use these videos as an easy way to check off the Daily Discover on the To-Do List!
    • You get credit for each ad you watch. If the video doesn't play an ad beforehand, you don't get a credit.
    • Make sure to sign up for a Hideout account. If you don't, you won't be able to redeem your Hideout points for SB, and it will lose your point progress if you close the window.
    • To redeem, go to the redemption page and click "Start Redeem Process". Here, you select which linked site you're cashing out to, and see how many SB you'll get in return for how many Hideout points. Once you select a site a "Redeem Balance" button will appear at the bottom: if the button is hidden off the bottom of the screen, hit ctrl-minus to shrink the font size of that page so that it fits.
    • How good these videos are varies. Some days, ads are plentiful, and you can get about 3 – 4 SB/hour just for leaving it running in the background. Other days, ads are hard to come by, and you might get 1 SB/hour or even less. If it plays for a while with no or barely any ads, try closing that channel down and switching to another channel. If you still don't get any ads, try again tomorrow.
    • On some, but not all, computers/browsers, the computer will get gradually slower the longer it has a Hideout window open. If your computer does this, periodically close the window down and open a fresh one.
    • To make sure you pay at least some attention, the video will occasionally pause and display an “Are you still watching?” button. If you don't click the button, after a little while the video will change to static and you won't earn any further points until you click.
  • Some of the free-trial or cashback offers are for established, popular sites, like Kobo, Audible, Groupon, or GoDaddy. If you were interested in signing up for one of these anyway, look through the Discover offers first and see if you can do it through Swagbucks for a bonus.
  • Some sign-up offers only require an email address, no credit card or phone number. For these, I sign up using a secondary email address, so their emails don't clutter up my main inbox.
  • There's usually an offer to work for a freelance food-delivery company, occasionally switching between different companies. If you'd like to do some food delivering and live in one of the supported areas, try signing up for DoorDash if it's available. Last time they were offering Uber Eats they only gave a $15 bonus, and in that case you're probably better off going through Uber's Guaranteed Earnings bonus program instead. Not only does Guaranteed Earnings often give a larger bonus, it's available in more areas and covers ridesharing as well.
  • The Revenue Universe tab usually has a couple of surveys mixed in with the other offers. They don't give disqualification points and the payouts are towards the low end, but if you're in the mood for surveys and have run out of other surveys to do, these might help you out.

*I hear good things about Privacy: I hope they come to Canada soon!
